The Chinese-American Engineers and Scientists Association of Southern California (CESASC) is honored to invite nominations for the Jonathan H. Jiang (JHJ) Prize for Fundamental Science, generously sponsored by the Jonathan H. Jiang (JHJ) Foundation. This prestigious award is presented annually to recognize up to three exceptional research papers authored by young scientists under the age of 26 in the fields of mathematics, physics, chemistry, and other fundamental sciences.
Awardees are required to attend the award ceremony at the 63rd CESASC Annual Convention, to be held at the Hilton San Gabriel Hotel on Saturday, April 26, 2025. The award includes:
- A cash prize of $1,500
- A certificate of recognition

Eligibility
- Paper Publication: The nominee must have been the lead author of a paper published in a reputable international journal between January 2024 and February 2025. The paper must be publicly accessible (in print or online) before the nomination deadline.
- Age Limit: Nominees must be under 26 years old when the paper was initially submitted.
- Nominator Qualifications: Nominations can be made by CESASC members or non-members, including senior advisors, co-authors, or other recognized experts familiar with the nominee’s research.
Nomination Materials
- Resume: The nominee’s resume, including a complete list of published papers.
- Supporting Letter: A letter of recommendation from the nominator or someone closely familiar with the research described in the paper.
Introduction to the JHJ Prize for Fundamental Science
Established and sponsored by the JHJ Foundation, the CESASC JHJ Prize for Fundamental Science aims to celebrate and inspire young talent in the fields of fundamental research. This award recognizes exceptional contributions in mathematics, physics, chemistry, and other foundational disciplines of science.
Awardees are chosen through a rigorous selection process conducted by an esteemed panel of reviewers. The JHJ Prize is a testament to the recipient's outstanding dedication to scientific inquiry and excellence, honoring young researchers who embody the spirit of innovation and discovery.
